Can surgery reduce the appearance of a keloid scar?
Question:
My 17 year-old daughter has a keloid scar which extends from her buttocks to the top of her leg. As you can appreciate, she is very aware of this and would like to know if surgery would help reduce this ugly scar which is the result of a childhood accident where she was cut by glass.
The wound was cleaned and sutured by the on-call SHO who used no form of sedation in Accident and Emergency. Can anyone help her?
Answer:
Thank you very much for your enquiry. It may be possible to improve the scar on your daughter’s leg. It would be really helpful if we could see a picture of the area concerned. Could you please send a photo to: mailto:info@aurora-clinics.co.uk?
There are lots of treatments available for unsightly scars which can involve further surgery and non-surgical options such as injections or special dressings which can be used to treat the scar. The best treatment for your daughter would depend upon the type of scarring that she has.
If you would like to book a consultation to discuss the best way forward for your daughter, please do so by ringing us on: 01324 578290 or emailing us at: info@auroura-clinics.co.uk.
