Breast Reduction operation

Hello, my name’’s Adrian Richards. I’’m a Plastic Surgeon and the Surgical Director of Aurora Clinics based here in the United Kingdom. Today I’’m going to be talking you through an operation I did recently on a lady who required a breast reduction surgery.  So she’’s generally fit and healthy, in her early 30s and as you can see, is quite heavy busted with her bust being slightly larger on the right side.
So in the video, you see her in her operation. You see where I’’m going to move the nipple to, the area I’’m going to remove (which in this case was 600g), and that the nipple is going to be elevated.

You can see that I bring the tissue together, and the pedicle on which the nipple’s are kept attached with the nerves and blood supply.

You can see blood will come in from the bottom to the nipple and this is where the nerves come in.  So by keeping the nerves intact, I preserve the sensation to the nipple and this is how everything’’s going to look when it’s closed, with the nipple going up to that new position.

At the end you see everything closed, I’’ve sewn everything with absorbable stitches and the breasts will be much smaller, probably a C cup. You can see the tape on at the end, the micropore tape, so the patient will be up and about the next day, with the stitches, which are absorbable, trimmed at one week.
