PIP Rupture Detected by MRI scan
A PIP rupture, detected by an MRI scan prior to surgery left this lady in no doubt she wanted her implants replaced.
This patient had 270cc PIP implants, which had detected a rupture in the left side during an MRI scan. The right side upon removal had basic gel bleed and deflation, which is what we have come to expect as a best case scenario with PIP implants.
The left implant had indeed ruptured, and you can tell because of the colour, as it had turned a very dark shade of yellow as the silicone mixes with bodily fluids. The rupture was apparent as soon as the incision was made as thick creamy fluid oozed out instantly.
