This video series features the questions we have received about stretched and split earlobes. Stretched earlobes are increasingly common in today’s society, therefore correction of stretches is also becoming more common.
We get loads of questions from patients, some of which we simply answer, but the most frequent, we like to turn into information videos for you, so we have answers to these questions within our Youtube channel and on our website which is instantly accessible.
When it comes to the type of anaesthetic used, usually the procedure is performed under local, but upon request it can be performed under general. We try and discourage this though, as a general anaesthetic is a much more invasive anaesthetic, requiring an overnight hospital stay and an anaesthetist so the cost are a lot higher. The only pain with local anaesthetic is the initial injection, and we can use LMX4 cream which is a local anaesthetic based cream which temporarily numbs the skin, meaning you shouldn’t even have to feel the initial injection.
However, if you really don’t want to be awake, the option of local anaesthetic is definitely available to you.
