PIP Implants – Why were PIPs banned?
This surgery information video is all about PIPs and why they eventually got banned. The non medical grade silicone was a huge factor in this, along with the weak exterior shell, which was probably cheaper to manufacture, meaning higher profit margins on implants. The company who made PIP implants went into liquidation in 2011, which left a lot of women worried about their implants and what they could do about them.
Many women still have PIP implants, some who aren’t even aware they have them, or are aware of the horrors that they can bring.
