Rippling of breast implants – is this normal?
Q) Hi, I had a breast augmentation with Aurora Clinics in Northampton nearly 3 years ago. I have quite bad rippling of the implants, especially when I lean forward. Is this normal? Thanks.
A) Thank you for your email. I am sorry to hear that you have rippling following your breast enlargement procedure.
Rippling is caused by the outline of the underlying implant showing through the skin. It normally occurs in people who are slim or have recently lost weight. If you have lost weight recently it would be worth trying to regain this as even slight extra padding in this area can significantly reduce the rippling.
If this is not possible other options include replacing the implant with a firmer, more cohesive implant or relocating the implant under the muscle in the upper part. It would be best to see you in person to assess the best option for you.
Please feel free to contact the Aurora Gatehouse Clinic to schedule an appointment.
Once again thank you for your enquiry. We look forward to seeing you soon.
With best wishes,
The Aurora Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Team.
